Words, Words and more Words
Another Friday is upon us! Break out your coffee or spirits! Whichever you prefer!
A very productive week here at Camp Beasley even with all of the distractions of having to perform errands during the precious writing hours during the day. Yesterday was a bust because I had to drag the boy child and girl child to the dentist. It turned into an all day affair that ended with much coffee and no words being written.
I could be sad about the no writing getting done but I got drawn into a book and supped upon words and gained nourishment for the next few days of writing. I can’t get mad about reading instead of writing. I started reading The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon and although I’m not overly fond of the protagonist and some other minor things about the world, the writing and story have drug me in and I couldn’t put the book down last night. I got over halfway through the book and it’s all I can do not to pick it back up and finish it this morning.
But there needs to be more words going into my draft and not my brain at this point. Maybe tonight I’ll feast on words again. We’ll see.
I had hoped to get the rough draft of the current WIP done before winter break but I’m only sitting on 40k words right now and maybe only 8 days left before leaving for family time. Eight days could be plenty of time to finish or it could be way too few depending on what those eight days hold. I know one of them holds a christmas party for the girl child that I signed up to help with. Couple that with an early school dismissal and you have yourself a hectic day with children home from holiday parties hopped up on sugar and Christmas spirit.
Oh well. I can always write while on holiday and I absolutely intend to, but word output will be smaller than usual and it will certainly be harder to concentrate what with all the visiting and screaming children.
On that note of screaming children I leave to go write words, words and more words. Have a wonderful Friday!
