Post Nanowrimo

Oh boy!  It’s been a little over a week since the end of Nano and it’s been quiet on my end.  I’d like to think the month was a big success this year even with the stress of being sick not once last month but twice.  That coupled with Thanksgiving was enough to put a dent in my word count.  But I ended November victorious!  61,396 words!  That is a new personal record.

I was a mad woman writing this past month and if I include the words I wrote from October 28th to November 30th I wrote a total of 72,070 words!  That’s a lot of words!  There was a period in there from Nov. 22th – 28th where I wrote almost nothing.  Over that period, not only was it our Thanksgiving vacation but I was also sick and it sucked.  It makes me grumbly to think of how many more words I could have managed if only I hadn’t been sick.  Oh well, there’s next years Nano.

I finished my rough draft during Nano and started up the next book in the series to finish out the month.

The first week of December I effectively took off.  I felt wrung out and depleted and I took the week to recharge my batteries.  I read and actually played some video games.  By the time the 7th rolled around I was ready to get back to work, even if starting up again was slow.  I’m back and hopefully I can pick up the frantic pace of November again because I would really like to finish the rough draft of the second book before my month of waiting is up to edit the rough draft of the first.

Really it’s going to be more than a month before I start to edit the book since I’ve decided that trying to edit it right before Christmas break is a very bad idea.  We’ll be staying with my family for almost a week and while I’m sure there will be quiet moments, I doubt I will be able to carve enough out of the days there visiting to give the draft enough attention.  So as soon as the children are back in school from holiday break let the rewriting begin!
