Starting,  Writing

Happy Friday!

It’s Friday!  It’s also the boy child’s birthday and party this weekend so the next couple of days are packed for me.  I have relatives that will be pulling into the driveway any minute now so this is probably going to be a very quick update/accountability post.

This week I’m not doing a day by day word count update since I changed my writing schedule up a bit.  This week I decided I would take what I learned from the short fiction seminar I attended and work on a piece to submit to the First Line.

Honestly, my writing went in a very weird direction this week.  I ended up writing about something that I probably never would have thought of (okay, maybe I would have) with my normal mode of brainstorming.  Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, it was just odd.  When I explained the idea to the Engineer he described it as “disturbing,” so there’s that.

The whole process went pretty smoothly considering I’m not an outlining type of gal.  I certainly had hiccups but nothing terrible.  I started to write the story out but what I was left with seemed more like a detailed outline than an actual story so I have lots of work ahead of me to turn it into submittable prose.

So that’s where I am at the end of this week.  Not too shabby.  Certainly not the 1000-2000 words I would like to write everyday but it’s something.

Now, I have to go unlock the front door and welcome my family.  Have a great weekend!
