Friday Funday!
It’s Friday, Friday, Friday! And I’m still working. Overall it was a very productive week and the past two days have been especially gratifying writing wise. Let’s get to the breakdown!
9/11/2016 – Sunday was spent with my family for the most part and still nursing the poor Engineer. The laptop was open most of the day but really all I accomplished was reading and watching football. I’m cool with Sunday being less productive.
9/12/2016 – 9/14/2016 – Reading previously written chapters and tweaking them as needed. About five chapters in all.
9/15/2016 – Now we get to new material. Starting working on a new chapter for the book. It started out slow during the day but I “took a night” which is code in my house for one of the adults being permitted to lock themselves away from the world and do whatever they want with limited interruptions. The bulk of the new chapter was written on this night and it felt amazing once it was done.
9/16/2016 – Another new material day. Unfortunately in the morning I started reading where I left off in Ilona Andrews book Magic Slays, about 1/4 of the way through the book at that point, while waiting to drop the boy and girl off at school this morning and got sucked into the story to the point that once I got home I had to finish the book. (An aside – The Kate Daniels series is amazing and you should run out and pick it up. I will put in a disclaimer that the first book seems a little lack luster compared to every other book in the series (but still an amazing book in its own right compared to the rubbish out there) but I swear if you just push through it you will not be disappointed with the series after that. Book 2 and onward = perfection and omg/can’t put it down. I’m trying to pace myself because when I get to the last book I think I might be lost.)
Not a waste of time, reading should be viewed as part of the job as a writer (I’ll just keep telling myself that.) But then was lunch and about an hour and a half of writing before it was time to get the kiddos. Once they got home and settled I spent another hour working on the chapter I’m currently on. I’ve taken a break to eat supper, put the kids to bed and write this post. When I’m done, it’s back to writing for me. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Friday night.
