Friday!
Happy Friday!!! Now a little something that will hopefully make you smile:
All has been quiet on my part since Boy child’s party. The stress of getting ready to host so many people and house guests for an extended period required a bit of recuperation. Not too much with Nanowrimo coming up but some.
Which leads me to what I’ve been doing since my couple of rest days after the party: Nano prep!

The past couple of weeks I’ve been working on my current book and Nanowrimo prep. My area Nano group has had a few get togethers so far but I haven’t remembered them until the last minute or I had other stuff going on (like hitting my daily word count goal.)
I thought long and hard about what I wanted my Nano project to be this year. Last year I had a blast writing the first half of not one but two stories. (I wanted to finish only one during nano last year but hit a road block and instead of sitting and doing nothing like I wanted to do, I started working on another project I’d been thinking about for a while so I was at least getting words on the page.)
This year is a little different from my past years though: I’m in the middle of a book right now and I’ve got so much momentum with my writing right now (I’m going to be ~ 40k words into the story by the start of Nov.) I don’t think it would be a good idea at all to put my current project on hold while I do a Nano exclusive story.
So I’ve decided to take my current work into Nano. Yes, I know it’s not advised to do this but this year I’m bucking that advice. Starting at Midnight on Nov. 1st I’ll begin counting my words towards my November goal of 50,000. I’m primarily an exploration writer otherwise known as a Pantster: I know roughly the direction my story is leading but I don’t know the exact route I’m going to take to get to the story’s destination so I feel like I’ll be fine taking an established story into November. The way I see it, it won’t be much different than what I was going to do anyway, just slightly more words than I would normally try to get down in a month considering I don’t usually stick to a 2000 word goal on weekends – those are days to spend with family and catching up on being with people.
Accountability wise I’ve been doing great this week: I’ve met and exceeded my new daily goal of 2000 words every day this last week.
It’s a very busy weekend this weekend what with Halloween parties and science projects that need to be done. My workday is cut short today since I’m volunteering for girl child’s class Halloween party. I’m fine with that since I have to remind myself that writing is ultimately lonely work and these are important times to spend with my little ones. They make the loneliness more bearable knowing that I’ll get to hold them at the end of the day.
But I’m in a good place to head into this last weekend before Nano and I hope you are too.
Have a great Friday and last few days of Nano prep!
