    Book 3 Rough Draft Complete!

Oh my goodness! The rough draft is DONE! So, you know, step one of 100 done. Just kidding. I need to put a bit of time between myself and book 3 before I begin the rewrite to pretty it up. I put at least two weeks between myself and the last two books, but I’m feeling pretty good, and I think I’ll be ready to dive back in on Monday. After the rewrite, I usually go through and look for more weak spots. I repeat this process until I don’t think I can read the book one more time, then I go through and fix anything grammatically wrong. After that,…

    Book Three and Other Updates!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything to the blog or social media, but that is a good thing as far as writing goes. I wanted to give a quick update on the state of book three/the series in general so far. Oh book three, book three….. It’s been giving me fits. An example: most books in my genre run 65k-95k words. So far in April, I have written 90k words on book three and 60k of those have been trashed. via GIPHY I wrote 30k towards book three and decided it was garbage and wasn’t telling the story I wanted to tell so I started over. I wrote…

    Release Day!

Birdsong and Bone is out! Oh my goodness! I can’t believe book 2 is out in the world today! It’s been a trying month this last month but it paid off in the end. My arm is on the mend, book 2 is out, and now I can focus on book 3 a little more. I’ll be candid right now – the rough draft for book 3 was supposed to be done by the end of this month. That’s not going to happen and I’m frankly having a horrible bit of anxiety over it. I can get about thirty minutes of typing in before my hand cramps horribly from my…

    Release!

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been nine days since the release of Bramble and Blood! The release went well considering the fact that I went about it all wrong. But book is slowly gaining an audience and that is an awesome feeling. I’ve been a bundle of nerves so far thinking no one would be reading the book at all and that it was a horrible mistake to release it out into the world. But I’m glad I did. The book has even gotten two 5-star ratings!!! That’s not too shabby! I’ve spent less time this past week working on the finishing steps of book two than I should have,…

    Camp Nano update and #Revpit

Holy watering, burning eyes Batman!  Wouldn’t you know it?  The first beautiful weekend and I’m afflicted with some sort of cold/allergy thing.  At least I didn’t start feeling really sick until I was done scrambling to get ready for #Revpit and submitting to it. Which kind of leads me to Camp Nano and my abysmal performance for this camp so far. I first heard about #Revpit on Monday- I wasn’t planning on submitting; I was just going to stick to my plan of getting more beta readers for my Entangle manuscript and spending all of April and May finishing a new rough draft. After some hemming and hawing Tuesday and…

April Camp Nano and Other Happenings

Oh geez.  It’s been a while since I last posted.  Between finishing up initial revisions to get my book ready for beta readers and everyday life, there hasn’t been much to report.  But I suppose I should do a post just so it appears I’m not dead.  Besides, I need to document that I’ve been busy these last couple of months. First up, revisions!  I spent a good chunk of time going through and revising my book, Entangle.  I wanted to get it polished up enough to have initial beta readers give it a go.  I set a deadline for myself to have it out for betas on my birthday…

    Revision!

Oh revision!  How you had me worried!  Oh wait…..   That’s a lot of red.  Really the revisions aren’t all that bad.  Most pages look like this: That’s a lot less red.  I started working on revisions on Monday, even though it was a holiday and that meant the kids were home which also means a lot less time to work.  Even with a shortened work week, I’ve managed to make it all the way through chapter 12 which is well over halfway through the book.  Not too shabby.  I was certain this revision would take weeks to get through. I guess it helps that I’m putting in 8 –…

The Big Rewrite or My Self-Imposed Exile

It’s Friday! And it’s been a month since I’ve done a Friday post or any type of post at that. I began the big rewrite of my rough draft a month ago and it has completely taken over. The time I would devote to social media or writing a blog post, I’ve spent working on the rewrite instead. And I find that I’m okay with that. I enjoy the Twitter writing games but they aren’t as important as finishing the rewrite. I do miss the interaction with other people but there’s always time for that later.   I’ve been withdrawing more and more in the afternoons and evenings to work…

    Rough Draft Complete!

The rough draft is done! After working all day and writing approximately 6000 words I finally finished my rough draft last night.  Just in time too since I set a goal of beginning to edit my already finished rough draft for this month.  But for a few hours, I think I can just sit back and relax knowing that I worked through enough plot problems to at least finish a rough draft.
